Distance 35 km
Elevation gain 800 m
Time 3 – 4 h
Difficulty Moderate / demanding

The route starts in Rajecké Teplice and first leads towards Zbyňov. The opening section is suitable for warming up, but the character of the trip gradually changes into a sportier loop with more noticeable climbs and forest sections.

After crossing Roháč Saddle, a descent follows towards Súľov. This part makes the route especially attractive – you gradually enter the environment of the Súľov Rocks, one of the most distinctive natural landmarks of the region.

It is worth taking a longer stop in Súľov. If you have enough time, we recommend walking up to at least one of the viewpoints above the village, where one of the finest views of the Súľov Rocks opens up. For such a stop, a full-day e-bike rental is a better choice.

From Súľov, the route continues through Hradná towards Marek Saddle. This is a pleasant section with views and an opportunity for a short rest. Marek Saddle is a good place to stop before returning to Rajecká Valley.

The final part descends towards Malá Čierna and then back to Rajecké Teplice. Elevation gain 780 m
Time 4 – 5 h
Difficulty Sporty

The route starts in Rajecké Teplice and first leads at a calmer pace through Rajecká Valley towards Rajec and Rajecká Lesná. The opening section is suitable for warming up, without technical sections, but it gradually prepares the rider for the more mountainous part of the trip.

In Rajecká Lesná, the route naturally becomes a sportier climb. From the Slovak Bethlehem you continue towards Sedlo pod Úplazom, where a more noticeable climb begins. This is where you will appreciate the advantage of an e-bike most, as the elevation gain is noticeable but still manageable.

The climb towards Úplaz is among the nicer mountain sections around Rajecká Valley. The road gradually gains altitude, enters a calmer natural environment and offers views of the surrounding landscape, Malá Fatra and the ridge areas above Rajecká Lesná.

The most demanding part comes near the end of the climb before Sedlo pod Úplazom. The section tests the rider's fitness and how they work with e-bike assistance, but the reward is a mountain atmosphere, quiet and the feeling of being away from ordinary excursion routes.

The return leads the same way back through Rajecká Lesná to Rajecké Teplice. We recommend caution on the descent, especially on gravel, in bends and in case of forestry vehicles. The route is better suited to riders who already have at least basic e-bike experience and want a more substantial full-day trip.

Rajec – Domaniža – Kortmanka – Čičmany – loop

Distance ~52 km
Elevation gain ~1200 m
Time ~ 5 h
Difficulty Demanding

The route starts in Rajec and leads through Trstená and Suchá Valley towards Domaniža. The opening is relatively smooth and serves as a good warm-up before the more demanding part.

From Domaniža you continue to Čelková Lehota, where an approximately 6 km long climb on an asphalt road begins. This is the most demanding section of the whole route – a long, steady climb that tests your fitness. On an e-bike, however, it is manageable and worth it.

During the climb you can turn off to Kortmanka cave – a lesser-known but interesting natural point that gives the route a more adventurous character. The surroundings feel calm and authentic, ideal for a short stop.

After reaching the top, the reward comes in the form of a long and smooth descent towards Čičmany. This section is one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole route and offers fast riding with beautiful views.

From Čičmany you then return to Rajec on an asphalt road, completing a demanding but very attractive loop.

The route is ideal for sportier riders or e-bike enthusiasts who want a combination of performance, nature and a proper descent.

Rajec – Kunerad Castle – Rajecké Teplice – Zbyňov – Jasenové

Rajec – Kunerad Castle – Rajecké Teplice – Zbyňov – Jasenové
Direction:loop

A more demanding e-bike loop connecting Kunerad Castle, a longer climb above Kunerad, Rajecké Teplice, Zbyňov and Jasenové. The route is suitable for riders who want more kilometres, more elevation gain and a more varied trip around Rajecká Valley.

Distance ~42 km
Elevation gain ~700 m
Time 3 – 4 h
Difficulty Demanding

The route starts in Rajec and the first kilometres lead towards Kamenná Poruba and Kunerad. The beginning is still pleasant and suitable for warming up, so you have time to get into rhythm before the main part of the trip. Gradually you reach Kunerad Castle, which is a natural orientation point of the whole route.

From Kunerad Castle comes the most distinctive part of the loop – an approximately 6 km long climb. On a regular bike it would be quite hard, but on an e-bike it is manageable, especially if you pace yourself and use the motor assistance wisely. This section makes the route more demanding, but also gives the ride character and a satisfying climb.

After the climb, the route turns in a loop back towards Kunerad Castle. This part offers a calmer environment, forest sections and a pleasant change from ordinary asphalt riding. However, expect the surface to be uneven in places and more demanding after rain.

From the area by Kunerad Castle, you continue towards Rajecké Teplice. This section feels more relaxed and is a pleasant transition from the mountain part back into the valley. Rajecké Teplice is a good place for a short break, refilling water or taking a calmer pace before the final part of the route.

From Rajecké Teplice, the route continues through Zbyňov and Jasenové back to Rajec. The final kilometres are clearer, but after the earlier climb you will definitely feel them in your legs. The combination of the castle, a longer climb, forest sections and a return through familiar villages makes this a varied and valuable loop.

We recommend this route for riders who already have at least basic e-bike experience and want a fuller trip. It is not technically extreme, but thanks to the long climb and overall length, it belongs among the more demanding routes around Rajec.

Rajecké Teplice – Kunerad – Valča – Slovianska Valley – Rajecká Lesná – loop

Cycling route Rajecké Teplice – Valča – Slovianska Valley – Rajecká Lesná
Direction:Rajecké Teplice → Konská → Kunerad → Valča → Slovianska Valley → Rajecká Lesná → back

A more demanding full-day e-bike loop from Rajecké Teplice connecting Rajecká Valley with Turiec through Kunerad, Valča, Slovianska Valley and Rajecká Lesná. The route offers long climbs, mountain surroundings, forest roads, quieter valleys and the feeling of a true crossing between regions.

Distance 63 km
Elevation gain 1300 m
Time 5 – 6 h
Difficulty Demanding

The route starts in Rajecké Teplice and the opening leads towards Kunerad. The first part is suitable for warming up, but already hints at the more mountainous character of the whole loop. From the spa environment you move into quieter parts of Rajecká Valley and towards Kunerad the route begins to gain both a trip and sportier character.

Beyond Kunerad, the route gradually enters a more mountainous environment and heads towards the connection between Rajecká Valley and Turiec. This section belongs among the physically more demanding parts of the trip, as it includes longer climbs and less busy roads. This is where you will most appreciate the advantage of the e-bike, which helps maintain a pleasant pace even with greater elevation gain.

After crossing towards Valča, the character of the landscape changes. You enter Turiec, where new views open up, forest sections increase and the route gains the feel of a real mountain crossing between two regions. The Valča area is known for its recreational character and pleasant natural setting.

From the direction of Valča, the route continues into Slovianska Valley, one of the most beautiful and quietest parts of the whole loop. Expect calm forest sections, passages away from main traffic and places where the route feels more adventurous than an ordinary cycling trip around a village.

The surface is varied — alternating asphalt, forest roads, gravel and, in places, rockier sections. That is why this route is better suited to riders who already have experience with longer e-bike trips and do not mind a more varied profile or changing surface.

From Slovianska Valley the route continues towards Rajecká Lesná, gradually returning to Rajecká Valley. Rajecká Lesná is a natural place for a short stop, rest or refreshments before returning towards Rajecké Teplice.

The final part leads back to Rajecké Teplice. After the previous climbs, forest sections and crossing through Turiec, the return feels like a pleasant ride-out, but it is still a proper full-day loop. We recommend this route to sportier riders or anyone who wants to get more out of an e-bike than just a short relaxed ride.

If you are looking for a route with views, a longer climb, regional connection and a sense of adventure, this loop is one of the most interesting options around Rajecké Teplice. We recommend planning it as a full-day trip with enough time in reserve.

Rajec – Malá Čierna – Bodiná – Vrch Teplá – Manínska Gorge

Rajec – Malá Čierna – Bodiná – Vrch Teplá – Manínska Gorge
Direction:out and back / longer trip

A longer and more substantial route from Rajec through Malá Čierna, Bodiná and Vrch Teplá to Manínska Gorge. It is an attractive e-bike trip connecting Rajecká Valley with one of the most striking natural sites of Upper Považie.

Distance ~40 km
Elevation gain ~850 m
Time 4 h
Difficulty Demanding

The route starts in Rajec and heads through Malá Čierna, where you gradually move away from the main valley and the ride begins to gain a calmer, more rural character. The opening kilometres are suitable for warming up, but do not be fooled – this route belongs among longer trips and gradually becomes more demanding.

Through Bodiná you continue towards Vrch Teplá, where the ride becomes more varied. Asphalt sections, field roads and occasionally rougher surfaces alternate. This combination makes the route interesting for an e-bike – it is not just a simple road transfer, but a trip with changing terrain and scenery.

The main destination of the route is Manínska Gorge, one of the best-known natural sites around Považská Bystrica. The narrow rock canyon created by the Manín stream feels very dramatic and after a longer ride it is an excellent place for a break, rest and a short walk among the rocks.

Manínska Gorge is interesting mainly for its atmosphere – high rock walls, a narrow road and the natural character of the place create a completely different experience than routes led only through open valley scenery. That is why this route is suitable for riders who want to combine sportier effort with a specific and memorable destination.

The return back to Rajec follows a similar route, so expect that this is not a short ride. We recommend it more for experienced riders or those who want to get a longer half-day trip out of an e-bike. In good weather and at a sensible pace, however, it is one of the most interesting routes connecting Rajecká Valley with Upper Považie.
